We accept submissions of Poetry,

Creative Writings, Photography, and other Artwork

Contributor Rights ~ Our policy is the general copyright law that states that your work is yours.

Not mandatory with submissions- We love when writers, poets, and artists submit work related to our theme focuses. Every third week in the Editors Corner the next months focuses are revealed to give all of you the opportunity to finish work or dig out past work related to the topics. We appreciate when you submit with a focus in mind that you state so in the subject area.

Guidelines for Submissions to The River ~

(All Guidelines must be Followed to be Considered)

Creative Writing:

Poetry- limit 30 lines ~~ Real Life Stories- 300-700 word count ~~ Flash Fiction- 500-700 word count ~~ Opinion- 200-300 word count

* Poetry submission guidelines

    • two to three poems of any form
    • single spaced
    • limit of 30 lines
    • We welcome audio recordings of poems
    • and a photo of the poet (your choice)
    • one submission every 3 months

    • single spaced
    • follow specific word count
    • one submission every 3 months

    • Send creative writings to Liliana at:   cw@theriverjournal.org
    • In the Subject line of your email type your creative writing genre along with Submission- ex. Poetry Submission
    • In your email include a ‘short’ bio about yourself, with some networking information: Facebook, Twitter, et cetera* and your ‘preferred’ site where your work is located.
    • Please be aware that submission of creative writing, does not guarantee that it will be featured in The River~ Journal, but that it will be considered.
    • Those who submit their work will be notified that it has been received.  If your creative writing is selected you will be notified a second time with what issue it will be featured in The River. Submissions for March will be considered for publication in May. see chart below* If your creative writing is not selected it can not be re-submitted.  Special Note: The poet is welcome to submit new material.
    • If your work is selected, you are requested to share The River Journal ‘issue link’ in which your work is featured with your contacts, friends, family, et cetera.
    • Please note: The River Journal is a monthly journal. *The River has the rights to edit the bio for the usage of the featured creative writing.
    • Poets and writers will only be featured once a year. Please do not submit again if you were featured before that time lapses.
    • All creative writing and poetry guidelines must be followed to be considered.

 Guidelines for Art Submissions to The River ~ Journal

• Send photography submissions to: photo@theriverjournal.org  *no more than three photos per submission

Send images of your work, whether it is sketches, paintings, sculpture, music, et cetera in an email to: art@theriverjournal.org

• In the Subject line of your email type - Art Submission• or Photo Submission

In your email include a link to your ‘preferred’ site where your work may be located or seen.

• In your email include a ‘short’ bio about yourself, with some networking information: Facebook, Twitter, et cetera.*

• Please be aware that submission of art work, does not guarantee that it will be featured in The River Journal, but that it will be considered.
